Khan Lab School was founded to develop new, personalized practices that center around the
student. We create and test learning experiences to share with the world.

In keeping with Sal Khan’s "One World Schoolhouse" philosophy, we provide an extended-year, extended-day, mixed-age program with a project-based learning approach. Students are grouped into collaborative Independence Levels, which are based on executive function skills rather than traditional age restrictions. Our school empowers students to take ownership of their learning.

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, KLS is associated with Khan Academy, an edtech nonprofit that educates millions of people around the world “for free, for everyone, forever.” Our vision is to design student-centered global learning experiences, and we execute our vision through a Learning Design that encompasses four categories: Approach to Learning, Architecture of Learning, Academic & Character Outcomes, and Art of Teaching.

This session will introduce how we are rethinking school and preparing our students for the
Conceptual Age – by harnessing the power of technology to humanize the classroom.
